NSW HISTORIC / CLASSIC VEHICLE CONDITIONAL REGISTRATION (HVS & CVS)
The Sydney Datsun Club Inc is a Transport for NSW recognised historic vehicle club, allowing our members access to the Historic Vehicle Schemes, Historic Vehicle Scheme – HVS & Classic Vehicle Scheme – CVS.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THE PROCEDURES DOCUMENT BEFORE ENQUIRING ABOUT NEW REGISTRATIONS AND RENEWALS
NOTE ALSO THE NEW REQUIREMENT TO COMPLETE THE CHECKLIST OF REQUIREMENTS AS LINKED AT THE BASE OF THIS PAGE
HVS – Historic vehicles must be as close to original condition as possible, with no alterations except for safety features such as seatbelts and turn indicators, or period accessories and options (not modifications) if desired.
CVS – Classic vehicles can be modified however must comply with all TfNSW rules
Before you enquire with the SDC about Historic registration, we recommend you familiarise yourself with the conditions and information made available on the TfNSW website: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/registration/get-nsw-registration/historic-vehicles/index.html
The best way of finding out more after that, or to start the process of putting your vehicle on one of the schemes, is to come along to an SDC event. To assist the process, be sure to bring along any relevant forms and information as suggested by the TfNSW website, this includes vehicle declaration, Pink/Blue Slip and ideally bring the vehicle along or detailed photos of it (inside and out including engine bay). Some additional steps are required for the CVS, including Compliance/Engineer Certificate, please enquire about these. Note that both schemes do require processing time and you may encounter hurdles during the application process, please respect that this may take some time to complete.
If approved by our club historic plates registrar, the completed declaration should be taken to your local Service NSW office along with your license, a completed Application for Conditional Registration form, and if not already registered under your own name, proof of vehicle ownership (receipt).
Members of the scheme are expected to be active in club events, including monthly meetings.
